Women's Lacrosse: George Mason participating in community service projects

Wag'N Wants to send out a SPECIAL WAG to the George Mason Women's Lacrosse Team who participated in the "Lather Up Lassie for a Great Cause" Charity Dog Wash we set up for the DC Fire Department September 19! These guys are Wag'N it!

FAIRFAX, Va (October 7, 2009) The George Mason women’s lacrosse team plans to take part in at least two community service projects each month during the year. During the month of September, the Patriots participated in the “Lather Up Lassie for a Great Cause” as well as the “Walk for Kids” events.
“It is vital for the players to give back to the community that supports them,” said George Mason women’s lacrosse head coach Lauren Rywak. “We are thrilled with the organizations the team has chosen to serve and look forward to fostering relationships with many others throughout the year in the community.”
Lather Up Lassie took place on Saturday, Sept. 19 in Ashburn, Va. The team gathered at Bark ‘N Bubbles to help wash dogs with other volunteers for charity. The event benefitted Wag’N Enterprises, a group that provides gear and services aimed at keeping pets safe, and specifically raised funds for the O2 Fur Life program, which provides life-saving kits for pets to fire departments across the nation. Money raised at this event helped provide life-saving kits, including pet oxygen masks, for the Washington, D.C. Fire Department.
In addition to the Lather Up Lassie event, the women’s lacrosse team also took part in the 6th Annual Walk for Kids on Saturday, Sept. 26 sponsored by 25:40, a nonprofit organization dedicated to help children in South Africa survive the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The team gathered at various spots along the walk to provide encouragement and well wishes to those walking in the event. 25:40 supports and fosters the creation of orphanages, health clinics, day care centers, schools and other entities that are critical to the care and development of children impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Mason’s women’s lacrosse team will participate in two more community service initiatives during the month of October.
